Day 22 Recap: Gilford's state leading offense wears down Berlin's defense, as they win 2-0.

On a hot 90 degrees fall afternoon, Gilford took a long two-hour trip north to Berlin, as they started their toughest week of the season.

Berlin came out strong, and had a succession of corners, but couldn't manage to score. As Gilford settled in, Laurel Gingrich found Julie Auld, with 13 minutes to go in the half, to take a 1-0 lead. Gilford had multiple chances to ice the game, but Berlin's defense made four defensive saves to keep them in the match. No one would score for the rest of the half, as it ended 1-0. In the first half, the corners remained deadlocked at six apiece.

As the second half came around, Gilford began to control the game more and more, as their passing and offense started to wear down Berlin. Seven minutes into the half, Nicole Berube assisted Kellie Ryan, as Ryan put a reverse chip shot by the goalie, taking a 2-0 lead, and eventually winning by the same the score.

Gilford's high-powered offense was just too much at the end of the day, as they continuously pressed Berlin. Berlin started off well, but in the second half Gilford settled in and controlled the game, allowing Berlin only one corner, compared to six in the first half, and not allowing Berlin take a shot, in the second half. Gilford ended-up out corning Berlin, 14-6, and outshot them 17-3.
