Merrill & Ellnor Named Top 150 Players Entering College This Fall

MAX Field Hockey recently released their Player Rankings for the Class of 2017, and New Hampshire had two athletes ranked amongst the Top 150 freshmen entering college this fall.

Winnacunnet's Abby Merrill was ranked in the Top 100. She'll be attending Appalachian State University this fall. The forward finished last season with a Division 1 Runners-Up Medal. She scored 20 goals and had four assists, leading D1 in scoring. She also received MAX Field Hockey's New England Region Preseason Players to Watch award & MAX Field Hockey's New England Region Player of the Week for Week 1. Her end of the season awards included, NHFHCA 1st Team All-State & MAX Field Hockey's New England All-Region Team. Merrill finished her career, at Winnacunnet, as a four-year letter winner, she scored 67 goals and had 14 assists. She made it to four consecutive final fours and three straight finals, winning back to back finals in her sophomore and junior year.

Monadnock's Maddie Ellnor will be attending the University of Massachusetts Amherst this fall. Like Merrill, Ellnor was also a four-time letter winner and was named one of MAX Field Hockey's New England Region Preseason Players to Watch last season. Ellnor scored a state leading 27 goals last season and had 13 assists, and was the only player to break the 60 point mark last season. Her end of the season awards included NHFHCA 1st Team All-State, NHFHCA D3 Player of the Year, NFHCA Academic All-American, NFHCA Northern New England All-Region Team, NFHCA 3rd Team All-American, and MAX Field Hockey's New England All-Region Team. She finished her high school career with 105 goals and 53 assists.
