NH players connect for game winner @ College Connection's Under Armour Select Game

College Connection hosted its annual Under Armour Select Game at Boston College on Thursday, August 28, 2017. For more information on the event click here.

Six players represented New Hampshire. Five in the 2020/2021 game. Pinkerton's Mariana Shea, Marley Mailloux, and Katelyn Bennett, NH resident, and Central Catholic's Maddie DiPietro, and Windham's Kate Blaisdell.

New Hampton's Mckenzie Haberl was NH's lone 2018/2019 participant.

Haberl's team lost 2-3, but Haberl played well using her speed, ball control, and vision to move the ball up the field. She was the second assist on one of her team's goals and had two shots on goal.

For the 2020/2021 game, DiPietro and Mailloux played together on one team, while Blaisdell, Shea, and Bennett were on the other team. Mailloux had a great game picking up two assists and mirroring herself when she is at Pinkerton, using her pace to move the ball up the sideline and making that perfect pass to her teammates for easy tap-ins. DiPietro was her usual self, playing great defense and winning her one on ones, she also had two shots on goal.

Bennett, Shea, and Blaisdell's team won the game, 5-4. All three did a good job with moving the ball up the field. Shea also played defense which she was pretty good at, and Blaisdell was a constant offensive threat, always looking to score.

As for their game, it started off very open as five goals were scored in the first 30 minute period. Three minutes into the second period another was scored, but then the defenses started to lock down the game. The next goal was not scored until 3:14 left in the second period. Entering the third and final period DiPietro and Mailloux's team tied the game at 4, with 20:55 to go. With just over two minutes left on the clock, Shea made a great pass to Blaisdell down the sideline, Blaisdell beat four defenders, and put a reverse chip shot in the upper left corner to win the game.

You can see Blaisdell's game winning goal below, as well as some pictures from the event.

And a big thanks to College Connection, Under Armour, Gatorade, and Boston College for putting on a great event!
