Tilton and New Hampton wrapped up their regular seasons yesterday, as they squared off in their traditional "Powder Keg Day," where all of their fall sports face off against each other.
New Hampton started off right away, as Eveline Auger made two defensive saves for Tilton, one a minute into the game, and another with 11:48 to go in the half. Tilton started off the scoring as Jackie Hill assisted Kaitlin Bardellini, to go up 1-0, with 8:40 to go in the half. Two minutes later Kirsten Chandonnet made another defensive save for Tilton, to keep it 1-0, but 17 seconds later Maddy Young assisted Mckenzie Haberl, for her first goal of the day. Then 34 seconds later Haberl scored again, with the help of Savannah Norcross, to take it to halftime, 2-1.
Four minutes into the second half, Haberl netted her hat trick and sealing a 3-1 victory.
Even though Tilton scored first, New Hampton settled in after the goal, as they dominated the game. Tilton did out corner New Hampton, 6-4, but New Hampton held a considerable advantage in shots on goal, 16-3. The game was also filled with cards by the officials. There were three cards in the first ten minutes of the game, then totaled to seven or eight before it ended, some of them seemed pretty soft cards to give, instead of just telling the players to relax, with what they were doing.
New Hampton should make the tournament, and Tilton is questionable at the moment, but the tournament should be released sometime early this week, to see how many New Hampshire prep schools made the tournament.
Concord transfer Olivia Branch, scores twice, as Holderness beats Proctor, 3-1. Holderness also clinches the Lakes Region Division for the Class C Prep Schools, earning them a guaranteed spot in their tournament. Congrats to Holderness!
- St. Paul's beats Kimball Union, 4-0.
- Phillips Exeter loses, 2-3.
