On a beautiful Saturday afternoon, the Central parents and family members, were out in full force to watch their Senior Game, as the Central seniors finished off their last regular season game, with a win over #2 ranked Winnacunnet.
The game was the perfect description of, "At the end of the day, it does not matter what the stat sheet says, all that matters is what the scoreboard says when it reads 0:00."
Winnacunnet dominated the game having 12 corners to Central's one, and allowing Central only one shot, but that is all they needed. With just over 11 minutes to play, Cam Casey took the shot, just inside in the circle, it deflected off a Winnacunnet defenders stick, sending it airborne, and into the back of the net.
Even with all the corners, Winnacunnet's best chance came in open play, when Isobel Sargent sent a pass into the circle, from 35-40 yards out to Samantha Crochetiere who received it at the stroke line, and did a reverse chip shot, hitting the post.
It just goes to show you, you can have all the corners, all the shots, and all the possession in the world, and some of the best players in the state on your team, but if you cannot score goals, you cannot win games.
